Bland Diet

Please use the following recipe to create and feed a bland diet.

Ingredients:

Chicken breast (skinless, boneless)
White rice

Instructions:

Boil the rice in water until cooked thoroughly. Boil the chicken in water until cooked thoroughly. Once the chicken is cooked, shred and mix into the cooked rice. Keep this in an airtight container and refrigerate in between feedings. Feed {1/4 cup per 5 lbs of weight}. Do not add any oil, butter, salt, or herbs to the mixture. Avoid feeding any kibble, wet food, treats, chews, or other human food. Follow this for approximately 3 days to start. Once the stool has been normal for a total of 3 days, you can slowly transition back to the normal diet. This transition should take 7-10 days. You want it to be so gradual that the body doesn't recognize any sudden change. If the diarrhea persists past three days or becomes significantly worse at any time, please call us so we can schedule an appointment. Please monitor for any lethargy, lack of appetite or vomiting.
