- What stage is the candidate at with other companies?
- Where else are they interviewing?
- Any other relevant information?
- Why are they interviewing right now?
- What are some things they like about their current situation and what would they change (if employed)? Are they 100% certain they’re leaving their employer? What could they do to make the candidate stay?
- What other factors will go into their decision? (e.g. compensation, title, ability to WFH, etc.)
- When is the ideal start/signing date?
- Willingness to commit to see through our interview process? - at least for x weeks
- What prompted them to get on the phone with Square?
- How much do they know about teams/products/culture?
- (e.g. writing code, growing into leadership, solving highly complex problems, etc.) → is this new for them? Same as they’re doing currently? Something they used to in a previous role?
- This role is for _____ location, are you ok with that?
- Do you know about our “work from where you want” policy?
- Are you currently eligible to work in the US?
- Do you now or in the future need any type of visa sponsorship?
- If SWE:
- FE/BE/mobile/etc.
- Are you open to learning new languages?
- Would you be able to work with the specific languages that we do?
