Snippets with drop downs not inserting and getting windows error chime

I use a medical system that has an embedded version of word.
It has certain controls over the clipboard - it clears the clipboard after every case.
When I use a very basic text based snippet it works fine.
When the snippet includes a drop down it wont insert after the selections are made and windows gives an error chime.
At a loss as to how to fix this as I have no control over the medical system, only textblaze.
Anyone any ideas?
