How about a calendar gadget that you can select a date from? It could have multiple formats such as:
Monday
Mon, Feb. 24, 2020
Monday, February 24, 2020
2/24/2020
etc.
Just a feature thought that shouldn't be too hard to implement.

We've thought about this in the past. We haven't done yet because we keep running into the boil the ocean problem. There are a lot of different options we can see people wanting to specify (e.g. which dates are valid, durations, etc...).
We aren't really sure, what a minimum viable feature set would be here. Let us know if you have any thoughts on it.
