Indenting Texts for Gmail body

Hi all,

I started using Text Blaze today and i'm very happy with it.

Up to today i was using other similar apps but was missing some features that i fortunately found that Text Blaze has.

This message is however regarding a small challenge found when inserting a snippet into a gmail message body.

The snippet looks as follows into the Text Blaze app:

Whan i preview it, it looks misaligned:

And when i paste it, it looks as follows:

it's not a big issue, i can just remove the indent/tabs and refine it manually after each insert, but if there's a known solution for it, it would be of help!

Thanks!

Hello, welcome to the community and to using Text Blaze!

The preview looks correct based on the screenshot of the snippet you shared. It looks like the text box you're inserting into doesn't accept the tabs you've added to the snippet. Some text boxes may behave differently.

You can confirm this by copying the text in the preview (or other text formatted in a similar way) and trying to paste it into the same text field that isn't behaving as it should. If I'm correct, it should also remove the extra tabs after you paste. If that's not the case please let me know which website you're using to paste so I can investigate.

One possible workaround is to use spaces. instead of tabs, as the text form should respect spaces.

Hi Obed,
Thanks for your reply.
This happened in gmail, i will try to test it again.

Thanks for the clarification. I can confirm that tabs are not inserted in gmail. You have two workarounds:

  1. Use spaces instead of tabs, simpler if you need only a few lines that match in indentation
  2. Use a table without borders, better if you have many lines. You can find the tables documentation here.

Using the table you can change a columns width, and then remove the borders using the formatting options. This works fine on Gmail and is more versatile if you need a lot of lines.

Let me know if that works!
