Requiring a post-abbreviation character

When entering a shortcut in Text Blaze, is there a way to require a space or a punctuation mark before triggering the entered text. This would make it easier to enter similar text abbreviations.

For example: If I want to trigger a long date, I might use ";ld" but for a long date + day of week I would like to use ":ldd". Currently that creates a conflict. If I could require TB to wait for a before triggering the command, it would make it easier to find abbreviations. (I have a lot of short text abbreviations.) Some other text expander programs allow you to do this.

Thanks in advance for your answer

Hi Andrew, welcome to the community :tada:

With Text Blaze, you can change the settings for snippet insertion for each individual folder.

You can choose:

  • Started by word break - snippets are triggered if preceded by a space
  • Started & ended by word break - snippets are triggered if they are preceded and ended by a space
  • Anywhere - snippets are triggered anywhere as long as the shortcut is typed

If you want to have similar shortcuts, I suggest adding different special characters in front of them, or just adding numbers at the end of them (like :ld1 :ld2 etc).

Though, if your shortcuts are ;ld and :ldd then you should be fine.
