Searching + Updating Row Using Zapier

Hi TB Community,

Thanks for your help on this one

My Use Case: Keeping a Data Blaze sheet of all my clients and then updating a column once they've filled out a Google Form via Zapier

I see that I can create a brand new row once someone has filled out a Google form, but I'm not sure how to properly update a specific row - since, in order to update a certain row - Zapier asks for the Row ID, and there is no way to designate to "search by client name"

There is also a "search" / "Get Single Row" option via Zapier - but it also requires a Row ID , which I'm not sure how I would be able to already have "ahead of time" if that makes sense

Not sure if I'm thinking about this properly or not

Hey @ajduna7,
While setting up the DataBlaze step in Zapier, you will find another option called as "List Rows". You can use this to return a list of rows along with their IDs based on value inserted in google form.

Then you can add another step in the Zapier automation to "Update Row" and in the row ID section you can use the ID that you received in the previous step.

Also, if you are open to it, DataBlaze also has a form view which can make it much easier for you to handle such workflows. If it would be of any help, I can share more details on this.

Hi Samay!

Okay let me test out the List Rows function within Zapier

And yes please do tell me more about this Datablaze Form View -- Thank you!!

Wait I just discovered it!! This is amazing, I had no idea it was there. Wow

I'm going through it now - is it possible to only update one column within a DB sheet - or can it only create new rows?

Thank you
